CANADA – Latest research findings released by TNS reveal that mobile can play a valuable role in reducing the risk that ‘showrooming’ poses to retailers. ‘Showrooming’, where people visit stores only to test products but buy them later elsewhere, has emerged as a significant threat in recent years, with one third globally and almost 60 per cent in Canada, admitting to ‘showrooming’ behaviour.

climbing from 94.4 in April to 97.7 in May.

After a slight recovery in March, Canadian Consumer Confidence suffered
another significant setback amid reports of lacklustre job creation, a continuously slumping housing market, and continued worries over high debt.
According to the latest consumer confidence survey conducted by TNS,
the Canadian Consumer Confidence Index dropped more than two full
points, sliding from 96.5 in March to 94.4 in April.

economic indicator to drop this week*, along with employment, the housing

Index fell sharply in February, tumbling from 99.1 to 95.5, its lowest level
since August.

Canadians’ Consumer Confidence Holds Steady in Face of Bad Employment News: Survey
Canadian Consumer Confidence has held firm, with some sub-indices actually gaining slightly, despite some bad economic news showing that Canada shed more than 30,000 jobs during the month of July. According to the latest consumer confidence survey conducted by TNS, the Canadian Consumer Confidence Index ticked up very slightly from 94.6 to 95.0 (which is not considered to be a change in statistical terms) in August.

Canadians’ confidence showing the winter blahs : Survey
After a very encouraging surge of consumer confidence in January, Canadians have reverted to a more jaded view of the economy and their own prospects, according to the latest consumer confidence survey conducted by TNS Canada. After a dramatic rise to 98.6 in January, the TNS Canada Consumer Confidence Index dropped back to a more ‘normal’ level of 95.1 in February.

Online banking has overtaken branch banking in popularity: Survey
Canadians are now more likely to conduct day-to-day banking transactions online than at a branch, according to TNS Canada’s annual How Canadians Bank survey. Half of Canadian adults (52%) conducted transactions with staff at a branch of a financial institution in the month prior to taking the survey, and a similar proportion (50%) had banked online in the same period. However, online banking is used much more frequently—35% of Canadians bank online at least once a week, compared to only 15% of Canadians who visit a branch on a weekly basis.
